College profile

College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCCE) was founded in 1984，is one of the earliest colleges to cultivate undergraduates and postgraduates. CCCE is composed of Dying & Finishing Engineering faculty, Chemical Engineering faculty, Resources and Applied Chemistry faculty, College Chemistry Teaching center and Experiment Teaching center. College has constructed “State Key Laboratory of New Textile materials and Advanced Processing Technology”, “New Textile Materials Clean Processing Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education”, “Research Center of Clean Production of Textile Printing of the Ministry of Education”, “Key Laboratory of Ecological Dyeing & Finishing and Function Textiles”, “Renewable Resource Institute” research platform and “Textile Printing Experiment Center”. Besides, it has established the research cooperation with Hong Kong Henglian Company. These outstanding characteristics, distinct advantages and well-constructed teaching and research platform build a strong foundation of development of college and provide a good environment of learning for students.

CCCE offers 4 bachelor’s programs: Light chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Applied Chemistry and Renewable Resource Science and Technology. Among of them, Light Chemical Engineering is the state-level characteristic specialty and province brand specialty, and it has been enrolled a National excellent Engineers Plan and Hubei Province Engineering (pillar) Industry Personnel Training Plan. CCCE has chemistry first-level master program and Textile Chemistry and Dying and Finishing Engineering second-level master programs and Textile Chemistry Area (Dying and Finishing direction) master in Engineering. There are now 1257 undergraduates, 59 postgraduates and 33 international students.

CCCE has a high-class teaching and research staff with noble morality, and rigorous academic atmosphere. There are 83 staffs, among of whom there are 11 “Talent program of Hubei Province” , 3 Distinguished professor of “Sunny Scholar” and 2 chair professors of “Sunny Scholar” of WTU, 2 foreign experts, 16 professors, 32 vice-professors.

Since 2002, college and Leeds University launched “2+2” and “3+1” international cooperative education, which provides new channels for undergraduates to study in famous university in the world. After nearly 30 years of construction and development, a perfect system including graduate education, undergraduate education and international cooperation in education have been established. CCCE always pays attention to training engineering practical ability and creative ability of students. It has founded “Runhe” college students science and technology innovation park and 26 practice bases outside of school. The enterprise scholarships are more than 200,000 yuan each year. Government and Enterprise scholarship award-winning coverage in the student is more 65%.
